Modern Dental Technology Enhances Dental Patient’s Comfort

Technology Mountain Aire Dentistry

Dentistry has changed over the past several years, and modern advanced dental technology help dentists create a better dental care experience for patients. New tools and techniques allow professional dentists to offer tailor-made services that are unique to you and your needs. Dr. Chris Bockrath of Mountain Aire Dentistry embraces the best modern dental technology and techniques to offer our patients effective treatment in a more comfortable environment.

We strive to provide compassionate, gentle, and personalized care to all of our patients. Thanks to technology, you can now bid the era of painful and uncomfortable dental treatment goodbye. Modern technology, such as digital x-rays, same day crowns, and dental implants cut out extra visits to the dentist for more convenient, effective, and efficient treatment.

New Dental Technologies

The following are some of the new technologies that add to the comfort of the dental patient:

  1.     Digital X-Rays

X-rays are a routine part of the dental check-up. Dr. Bockrath uses digital x-rays, a state-of the-art technology, to help diagnose your dental health with accuracy, speed and comfort. In addition to the improvements in the comfort of our patients, digital x-rays are superior in every way. The images are bigger and the quality of the image is exceptional.

  • Old school imaging triggered a gag reflex in many patients.
  • Traditional imaging was often an uncomfortable and painful experience, especially for those with a smaller mouth. The hard-plastic bitewing is invasive and hurts the corners of your mouth and underneath your tongue when biting down.
  • Digital x-ray equipment is a handheld x-ray device that is much more comfortable than conventional x-rays of the past.
  1.     Modern Tooth Straightening

If your teeth are crooked, misaligned or if you have a problem with your bite, Mountain Aire Dentistry can correct those orthodontic issues with Invisalign® clear aligners as an alternative to metal braces. Rather than using metal brackets and wires, the Invisalign® treatment system uses clear, comfortable aligners that are custom made to fit your smile.

  • Metal braces can be painful be when tightened, causing headaches and mouth pain.
  • If a wire breaks, it can cut into your tongue or the side of your mouth.
  • Metal braces take up to two years to complete treatment.

Since Invisalign® aligners are barely visible, they make orthodontic work more comfortable for many people and most adults complete treatment within one year. In addition, you are able to maintain a professional, natural-looking appearance while you straighten your teeth. 1.     Same Day Crowns

Permanent dental crowns can now be made in the dental office during one visit, thanks to new technology. Dr. Bockrath and his staff can now create natural-looking ceramic crowns in their office. Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics (CEREC) is a high-tech system used to design and make high quality, metal-free dental restorations in one appointment. CEREC utilizes 3D photography and CAD/CAM technology to help Dr. Bockrath design a virtual restoration without taking impressions and, when combined with a milling unit, he is able to build an actual crown while you are still in the dentist’s chair.

  • Traditional crowns require at least two visits to the dentist
  • In order to make a mold of the crown, you have to endure having impressions made of your mouth with a tray of Alginate (gooey material that causes the gag reflex).
  • 2-4 weeks later, the crown is applied during a second dental appointment.
  • The process of taking 3D photographs is far more comfortable than the process of making traditional dental impressions.
  1.     Dental Implants

Dental implants are revolutionizing the way we approach the problem of missing teeth. Dental implants are a state-of-the-art option that allow patients to replace missing teeth with ones that look, feel and perform like natural teeth. Dental implants are the best option for replacing missing teeth as they are natural looking, strong and secure. In many cases, your dental implant might even be stronger than a natural tooth would be. The comfort one achieves from this technology is in the security of finding a permanent solution to missing teeth.

A dental implant:

  • Restores and preserves your facial structure
  • Stops the progression of bone loss and gum recession
  • Creates a secure base for bridgework
  • Helps remaining teeth stay in place
  • Normalizes chewing and speaking abilities

To find out if you would be a good candidate for dental implants, please schedule an appointment with Dr. Bockrath at (303) 731-7755 and check out this link for more information regarding dental implants.

Modern Dental Technology Makes a Difference for Patients

Modern dentistry offers many solutions for a more comfortable experience. For example, current practices in sedation dentistry allow anxious patients the opportunity to receive essential preventative care in a calm, relaxed state. It protects people with low pain tolerance levels or extreme dental anxiety from letting their teeth fail simply out of fear. Sedation Dentistry is just one of many ways that the art and science of modern dentistry evolve to better meet your needs as described on WebMD.
