Instructions on How to Properly Clean Your Denture Appliance

Do you know how to properly clean and care for your dentures in Broomfield, Colorado? If not, then our Mountain Aire Dentistry dental team is more than happy to help you! Keeping your appliance in tip-top shape is easier than you might think. In fact, all you need to do are the following things:

-Rinse the denture after eating: Food tends to cling to your denture, which is why we strongly recommend rinsing your appliance with water after you eat something, even if it’s just a snack. Rinsing will wash away the loose particles that can damage the appliance. Please remember to handle your appliance carefully. If you drop it, it could break.

-Clean your mouth: After you have removed your denture for the day, clean your mouth thoroughly. If you still have remaining natural teeth, clean those teeth with a soft-bristled toothbrush. If you do not, use a soft toothbrush or a gauze pad to clean your gums, cheeks, tongue, and roof of your mouth. This will help keep your appliance clean.

-Brush your denture daily: Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and nonabrasive toothpaste to brush your denture each day. This will remove the harmful particles, like plaque and bacteria, that threaten your smile.

-Soak the denture: You need to make sure the denture does not dry out. So, please place the denture in a glass of water or mild denture cleaner overnight to keep it moist and safe.
